An interesting solution to an old problem. You have a car that accepts FM radio, but not AUX or Bluetooth input. However, you have a good phone, a good music collection on the phone, and want some of that in your car. What do you do? Get a Bluetooth equipped FM transmitter, that lets you be surrounded by your music and your phone calls while you drive. The device plugs into your cigarette socket, and allows you a 1A USB output to charge your phone too. Other controls include volume, track and play/pause.

taotronicsThe device on top, the transmitter, attaches to the flexible good pipe via a magnetic attachment. It seems to have its own battery though, as it can be disconnected or taken off and it still works.

I found the pairing process to be a bit problematic. A couple of ‘cannot connect’ messages were finally followed by a ‘paired’ message.

Once connected though, everything works as well as you expect it to.

The only problem one may think is the fact that the microphone is quite far away from you if you’re driving. At moments like these you may pick it up and bring it closer, but if you’re driving, it isn’t exactly handsfree any more. Obviously, the faster or noisier your car, the worse the performance of the micophone.

The device can be found at the following link from Amazon:
