The iPhone 6 Plus Is Awesome and You Should Get One

The new iPhones are here, and they’re unlike anything Apple’s ever produced—especially the iPhone 6 Plus. Have you seen that one in person? It’s mammoth. It’s almost as large as the notoriously gigantic Samsung Galaxy Note. You see one in the flesh and don’t even believe it’s a real Apple product. That might put some traditionalists off, but it shouldn’t. The iPhone 6 Plus will set the standard for smartphones in the future. If you’re don’t covet one yet, you will.

That Screen, That Beautiful Screen

The iPhone 6 Plus is 5.5 inches of Retina beauty in one thin package. It features a 1920×1080 display that is so stunning, you’ll wonder why you even need your iPad anymore. Aside from the lack of a landscape mode, the Plus is a joy to behold, and the possibility for what developers can do with the extra real estate is exciting.

#BendgateIsBogus

Nothing complements an Apple product release like a good conspiracy. When the iPhone 4 launched in 2010, users notice a flaw where the phone would lose its signal when you gripped the edges of the phone with your hand (a pretty common way to handle a phone). It didn’t affect everyone, but it made enough noise that Apple issued free cases for every iPhone 4 user in the world.

Now, it’s Bendgate. A couple people who bought the 6 Plus reported that the phone was bending in their pockets… a pretty serious accusation. And while it was true for some, the outrage is bogus for most. In fact, Consumer Reports ran its own stress test for both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and found the regular 6 actually bends easier under less pressure than the 6 Plus.

So the hype is just that—hype. And even if the accusation were true, there are so many options for protection plans these days that virtually every freak accident can be covered.

An Advanced Camera

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus both feature an incredible new camera. It’s packed with all sorts of fun upgrades like smarter face detection, more manual control over exposure, better stabilizers and a clearer lens for crisper pictures. For the most part, the cameras between the two phones are identical, except for one feature: optical image stabilization.

It’s exclusive to the iPhone 6 Plus and uses the phone’s powerful A8 processor, gyroscope and M8 motion processor to stabilize shaky pictures in lower light. It fuses short- and long-exposure shots to craft a crisp, vibrant picture even when the light is dim and the camera isn’t still. And if you’re someone who takes photography beyond Instagram, it’s a feature worth upgrading for.

Worth the Wait

If you order the iPhone 6 Plus from Apple.com, it won’t ship for about three to four weeks. Because of high demand and record pre-orders, materials for the new phones (especially the 6 Plus) are on short supply. If you’re patient, then order from the website and sit back for one more month. But if you need the new phone now (and we can’t blame you for that), try visiting an AT&T or Verizon store or a Best Buy, where this is less iPhone traffic than Apple Stores.
