We won’t lie to you. Here at OxGadgets, we love our toys. We love the things ‘adults’ call toys, such as your average iPad or Galaxy Gear. However, we don’t stop there. We also love the toys that used to brighten up our days when we were about 2 feet high, or even smaller. We told you about HexBugs that are coming this Easter with their whole array of toys, and today we take a look at two from the range, the TagaMoto and the Aquabot.

Tagamoto

The Tagamoto from Hexbug takes an average toy car, turns it into a tiny package, and then packs lots of technology in it. Oh yeah, they go forward, and pack in a bit of sound and light, but this actually goes on so much more. It actually has sensors at the bottom that scan different codes, so if you buy an associated road set, your cars do all kinds of weird and wonderful things. The sample they sent us had a ‘stop’ code on the road, and if you let the car run on it, it just hits the brake, with the sound effects and the led rights.

It runs in three modes, letting you run on off road mode, which means it will run on any smooth service, road and code, where it runs on a road and acts according to codes, and free run, which is self explanatory.

To add to your car, you can buy the road set, a city road set, or if you really want to go for it, the Enforcer Road Set which comes with its own Police Car and Race Car. Prices start at only £7.99, and they are available online as well as at most good retailers.

They run on 2x LR44 batteries, which come included in the pack, but since these are lot of fun, you may want to keep a few extra in stock!

They are for ages 4 and up.

Aquabot

You may remember this from Red Dwarf, the very first episode. Dave Lister had a robotic gold fish in a bowl. Well, the far far future is here my dear friends. The Aquabot is exactly what you saw in that episode, a robotic fish that can swim around in your very own glass bowl. You can actually buy one from Hexbug as well, but you’ll have to click on the link below to find out more.

So, what is this magical fish? A semi-transparent fish lets you see the mechanics inside. A couple of buttons on the side let you force it on, but generally, it only runs when it is submerged in water, making it very fish like! Sensors keep this going every time it is in water, and it turns off if you take it out, or after it has been swimming for 5 minutes.

The actual swimming action is more fish like than any other toy we have seen in a similar package. The fish tail actually moves like a fish, and they also change direction as they swim.

They run on 2x LR44 batteries, which come included in the pack, but since these are also a lot of fun, you may want to keep a few extra in stock!

They are for ages 3 and up.
