Review: TYLT’s Y Charge 4.2A

y-charge_groupSometimes all you want from a gadget is simplicity. The Y-Charge 4.2 A from Tylt is one such device.

Simple, beautiful, well designed, soft silicone touch, and it delivers you with 2 x 2.1 A USB outlets.

Is there more to say? Not really!

However, you do deserve a proper review, so we will not go shy of giving you our full impressions.

What is it?

A dual USB charger that delivers 2.1 A and plugs into your car. 2.1A is the amount of current your tablet requires, which means you can simultaneously charge up to two tablets, or two smart phones from this one handy little device, while you’re in your car.

Look and feel

This lovely little car accessory is shaped like a Y, and hence it is called the Y-Charge. The tail plugs into your car’s cigarette lighter, while the two tops have the two USB ports.

It is made of silicone, so it is lovely to touch, and it looks beautiful.

It is also very light, though once plugged in, it shouldn’t really matter.

Ease of use

Plug it in, plug in your device’s cable, and off you go. As far as I could see, any device that comes with a USB cable can be charged with this, from smartphones and SAT NAVs to tablets.

Is it missing anything?

Hard to force errors out of such a neat little gizmo, but the only thing it could have included would have been some kind of an LED or glow feedback to know when it is working. However, some people don’t like a flash LED while they drive at night, so I can see why it may not come with one.

Verdict

If you hadn’t noticed already, we are pretty sold on this as the car charger to have in every car!
