Review: Jabra Motion Bluetooth Headset

Jabra Motion BT

What is it?

This is a Bluetooth Headset that packs in a lot more most headsets on the market come with. With ease of use, ability to turn it on and off just by opening or closing the little microphone hook at the bottom, and most of all, it has built in motion sensors that mean that the voice and the microphone adjust to how your head moves, meaning the voice/performance is always optimized.

Pairing

The pairing process is as simple as it gets. You also have the option to pair this using NFC. All you need to make that happen is make sure your device has NFC on, and hold the headset near it.

Extra features

The headset offers a lot of features on top of being just a handsfree device. You get voice feedback for everything, such as power on and off, battery, as well as it reading out who is calling you from your phone book. This also means that you can speak out your contact’s name to call them as well. Of course, a double tap on the call button gives you the redial feature.

On top of that is the intelligent motion sensor that adapts to motion and environment. It also includes wind noise protection.

Just so you know, you can also stream music, GPS and other items through this headset.

Usage

The usage is simple enough. All you need to do to power this up is flip open the microphone and you’re on. Any calls coming in can be accepted by tapping the key which is fitted right on your ear.

To make any calls, just tap the key, and it asks you to ‘Speak Now’, letting you name contacts.

Having tried this in various situations, the voice was very good, and as predicted, background noise was taken care of by this headset.

Comfort levels

Probably the biggest issue with Bluetooth headsets is the comfort level. Most people complain that wearing a headset for a long period of time means painful ears/headaches.

The Jabra Motion offers a behind the ear style, which means that the weight is evenly distributed all along your ear. Three different styles of ear buds come with the device, and the middle one that was attached worked for me straight out of the box.

One issue with behind the ear headsets is that if you have a lot of hair, and wear glasses, like me, putting it on can be more than a 2 second job. 5 seconds, but still, it takes a little effort.

However, once on, this is the most comfortable headset I have tried so far. I wore it for 2 hours during a car journey, and it worked well, as well I came away without any achy ears.

Buying information

This can be bought from most online retailers, as well as various high street  ones as well. It retails for £99.99, and Amazon is a recommended option.

Verdict

While the features are great, and work very well, the fact that it is comfortable, and reacts to motion puts it above the rest of the regular handsfree headsets.
