Review: ETON BoostTurbing2000

Eton BoostTurbine2000

What is it?

A portable power source for your phones and tablets, with up to 2000mAh power. This means you can charge your S4, iPhone, or Nexus 5 for about 80%. Moreover, if it ever runs out of juice, you can use the hand crank to give you more power.

Look and feel

The ETON BoostTurbine2000 is slightly heavier than most portable power sources these days, but that is to account for the mechanical set up that is also built in.

On the back is the hand crack, that cleanly folds in when not in use, but can be taken out and easily moved when you want to.

On the front is the logo, while on the top is a micro USB port, which allows you to charge this, a USB port, which can be used to take power out. 4 LEDs allow you to see how well charged your unit is, while a power button allows you to turn the power on or off.

Charging

As you have already guessed, there are two ways to charge this. You can either charge this directly by means of a USB charger, or you can use the hand crank set up to charge this.

The data tells us that one minute of hand cranking gives you up to 4 minutes of talk time, up to ten minutes of stand by time, and quite a few texts. However, there is a sound associated with the mechanism. Not noisy or loud, but it definitely isn’t silent.

Usage

The usage is as simple as it gets. You plug your device in the USB port, and press the power button, and that is all. When done, you can turn it off. The LEDs will give you a feedback about how well charged your battery source is.

Buying information

This retails for £49.99 and can be bought from OnPoint at the following link:

Verdict

A simple device, that lets you get away with power even if you forgot to charge it. A definite must have in your bag!
