An animated T-Shirt? Yes, indeedy!

In fact, you may want to watch the video if you want to find out more:

So, what is it? It is a T-Shirt which comes with a special Velcro pouch on the inside which allows you to slip inside your smartphone, and play a video that will, depending on your T-Shirt, run animations, such as beating hearts, moving eyes, etc.

The app

The Digital Dudz app is a free download for both Android and iOS, which means it works with a large variety of devices out there.

Once downloaded, all you have to do is choose your shirt, and it gives you a few options to play with about your animation. Things like brightness, and sound effects can be adjusted. Animation speed is another element you can adjust. Once you hit okay, it takes you straight to your animation.

The animation can then be re-sized according to your shirt and device. Once everything is good, you can ‘lock’ the screen, so little niggles like somebody touching your screen does not affect your magic.

One thing I did find annoying was that I had to adjust the size myself. It would be more useful if the app picked up what phone you had, and adjusted the size of the animation accordingly.

You can also use the app to purchase the shirts/costumes.

Setting up

The best way to set up the app is actually do it before you go to your Halloween party. Set those eyes properly, and leave the phone in there.

Once set, you can attach the phone to the back of your shirt using a big Velcro patch. That is all it takes!

What if I am not in a mood for animations?

The clever chaps have included a static image with the T-Shirt too. For example, my haunted mansion (from Scooby Doo) shirt came with the eyes. When you pull the Velco pocket back, it pulls the eyes back too. You can also take them off and leave them else where.

How comfortable is it?

A lot more than I thought it would be. The phone itself feels a bit heavy (I have a Galaxy S4), and the Velcro bit is a bit stiff, but overall you do not feel discomfort. Also, not much is visible on the outside, which is a great touch.

Can I dance in it?

Yes, you can. I have just been doing a lot of that in front of the mirror, and the phone is solid, the animation doesn’t move, and all is well and good with the world!

Does it come in many options?

Yes, it does. You can find out more about the range by clicking the following:

How well does it work in a party?

Oh, very well indeed. I got interesting responses from whoever saw it. The world needs new things, and this is one of them!

Verdict

For about £20, this is a great party trick to have. The only problem I can see with this is that it may drain your smartphone’s battery. I do, however, recommend this! I also look forward to seeing more of these.
