Blackberry Enterprise Service allows Android/iPhone to ‘Bring Your Own Device!’

Blackberry has released a security service today allowing corporate clients to secure and manage devices with BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10. This much awaited service could create competition within the smartphone industry, making companies fight for ‘who is best’ at working with the Blackberry Enterprise Service 10.

Secure Work Space for iOS and Android is a new option with the Blackberry Enterprise Service 10; this allows people to ‘bring their own device’. The new service allows the client to keep work, personal apps and data on iOS and Android devices separate.

Not many businesses have users that all use Blackberrys so this will be a great extension to the already popular BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Having a multi-platform service will be very useful  users can work with the mobile device that suits them and still have the security features that Blackberry are offering with the Enterprise service 10.

On an iOS or Android device users with Secure Work Space get email services, calendar and contacts as well as secure browser access but keep personal apps and content which is not so secure. They will be able to use the’ Documents To Go’ feature on the Blackberry Enterprise Service 10 and be able to edit documents with this feature too.

BlackBerry security provides security for data-at-rest and data-in-transit to iOS and Android devices. The Secure Work Space container is managed through BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10, making access to all devices a smooth transaction. Being able to push apps and information to all clients devices no matter which they use will make life easier. Being able to save time money and effort will make this service common in the workplace.

The BlackBerry Enterprise Service software is free to download but you must hold an annual client license.
