In the box:

  • Jabra Extreme 2 Headset
  • 2 Ultimate Comfort Eargels
  • 2 Earhooks
  • 1 Car charger
  • 1 USB Charger
  • 1 AC Charger
  • 1 Quick Start Manual

Pairing

The pairing of the headset is pretty seamless. Much like other Jabra headsets we have tried recently, these actually give you voice feedback to tell you the status. Once paired, every time you turn the headset on, they will pair with your phone. Unlike many other Bluetooth headsets, these can actually pair with up to two mobiles, meaning you can communicate with both phones while enjoying the hands free experience.

Look and feel

Tiny. Light. This headset looks the business, and has a good finish. They have a rocker switch which allows you turn it on or off (with voice feedback), and a button labelled Jabra which allows you to control various features. Two buttons on the side can be used to control volume during a call or listening to music, while in standby mode, they will tell you what the status of the battery is, another audible feedback. There is an LED underneath the Jabra labelled button which also gives you feedback on pairing and battery status.

Comfort

One of the biggest deciding factors about having a good headset is not the call quality, but the comfort levels. Being very light, and with a very tiny hook that looks around your ears, these are very comfortable. They also pack in their own ‘Ultimate Comfort Eargels’ to make sure you don’t feel uncomfortable.

They also pack in what they call earhooks, which mean you don’t have to loop the headset around your ear, but it can stay in your ear, a bit like a hearing aid.

On trial, I preferred the traditional loop around your ear method, but I think it is a personal choice. Overall, these headphones can be worn for a few hours, and this is coming from a guy who hates to have one in his ears normally.

Voice Feedback

These headphones will ‘tell’ you when on/off and about the battery status.

On incoming call, they will read out who is calling if it is a number from your contacts list. A number outside your list would be read out. This means that you know whether you want to accept or reject the call.

Call quality

Call quality is pretty good, something we have come to expect from Jabra. They also pack in ‘Extreme Noise Cancellation’ meaning the person on the other side can hear you perfectly, whether in a loud car or a windy environment. I tried making a few calls, and it being a very windy day, I was very impressed. There were no complaints, and people could hear me perfectly. I could hear them very well too.

Music

A hidden, and probably ignored, feature of these is that they also play music. While probably not the best set to use for music, as a make do they are quite good, and loud enough if you are on a noisy journey.

Buying Information

These can be found under the Bluetooth headset category at the MobileFun website, and retail for £49.95.

Verdict

This headset provides you everything you want from it, and in that regard they are pretty good. The voice quality is great, the comfort level is good, and they pack in a few bonus features such as audible feedback and music playing. All in all, if you are in the market for a good hands free experience, this is the product for you.
