Look after your baby’s health with these simple items

Your baby’s health is the most important thing to you. There are many conventional ways to look after your baby. There are the fairly basic items, such as looking after their diet, focusing on the mother’s diet in case of breastfeeding, temperature control, and many others. However, no two babies are the same, and no baby ever comes with a health manual. For this reason, it is always best to be well prepared.

In our attempt to get ready, we have found and sourced some of the following items:

Looking after your baby’s oral health

Dummies might be a great idea to help keep your children happy, but there is more than that to them. Traditionally, parents have been worried that dummies have been getting in the way of their kid’s teeth, gum and jaw development. Curaprox have been developing products to prevent that from happening.

The Curaprox dummy has especially been designed to aid the development of your baby’s jaws, teeth and gums. Their patented pacifier helps prevent misalignment of the bite and jaw deformation. These can be caused by standard pacifiers. In fact, studies have shown that the best way to avoid braces in the future is to not have a pacifier. Curaprox is on a mission to prevent that while letting your baby use one.

Their teething ring has an integral rattle. There is even a massage toothbrush, preparing babies for their very own first tooth brush.

As far as information from our NCT class goes, dummies are like swaddling. You either do them right at the birth or just avoid them altogether.

Keep them clean

It is no secret that staying clean goes a long way in the path to being healthy. However, a baby’s skin is really sensitive. While a lot of products exist that are designed for babies, they are often full of additives, colourants, preservatives and fragrances.

The NCT advice is to use warm water in the early days, but as the baby grows a few weeks old, and their skin has absorbed all of their natural oils, you can start using more than just water.

Bean & Boy have a lovely handmade Baby Soap for this purpose. This is devoid of all the items mentioned above, making it an ideal sensitive skin soap. In fact, this was the first soap they made for their own baby.

The soap has already been certified as SAFE FOR INFANT USE by an independent toxicologist, chemist and scientist. There is nothing artificial there.

The soap consists of natural ingredients, such as avocado oil, shea butter, castor oil, olive oil, coconut oil and responsibly sourced palm oil. They are designed to enhance the skin’s natural balance.

Fight those allergies

It is often very easy to forget about allergies when you have a newborn. They are essentially little cute bundles of joys. Everything from a yawn to a sneeze to a cough is just plain old cute. However, with pollen at a high as we go into summer, hay fever is all too real. Of course, you don’t want to give your children any drugs.

HayMax have a drug free solution for that. Just a simple pot of balm that can gently be applied around the nostrils to catch any annoying particles. It can even be applied around the eyes. While this is perfectly fine for adults too, it is particularly useful for babies and kids.

The product is drug-free, non-drowsy and 100% certified organic. It is also suitable from birth, though HayMax advises a test patch for very young children. It can also be taken to school and self-administered.

A healthy baby is a happy baby

I don’t really need to make the above statement. Of course, we all know it.

However, what we would advise is to look after yourself and your baby. If at any stage you have any doubts about any of these products, feel free to get in touch with their companies. More importantly, remember to talk to your GP about any doubts or illnesses.

Wishing you and your baby a healthy infancy!
