Acer Add Two New Notebooks To Swift Line

On 27th April 2017 in New York, Jason Chen, the Corporate President and CEO of Acer introduced their back-to-school range. The next@acer global press event was attended by over 400 international media and streamed live here on OxGadgets. Amongst other exciting new items, they introduced two new notebooks to their Swift line named the Swift 1 and the Swift 3.

The Swift 1 is a budget-friendly notebook that is light and highly portable, weighing only 1.3kg and being 14.95mm in height. The RRP is currently stated as €399 so it is ideal for students or those watching the pennies. It comes in a range of stylish colours and you can choose from silver, gold or pink. The pink option certainly raised a few chuckles at the event but since rose-gold phones have been so popular in the last couple of years, the pink option could have the potential to become a big seller.

Moving onto the performance of the machine, it has an Intel Pentium or Celeron processor, 4GB of memory and has either 64, 128 or 256GB of SSD or eMMC storage. It also comes with 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac wireless technology for reliable, seamless connectivity.

It also supports Windows Hello through a fingerprint reader, has Skype for Business certification and Cortana for Voice. If eye-strain is an issue for you, this has Acer BluelightShield to reduce any issues and also comes with Acer True Harmony for rich audio performance.

The Swift 3 is slightly larger than the Swift 1 and is 17.95mm in height and weighs 1.8kg. It’s not a huge difference and is still very compact and lightweight. It comes with a brushed aluminium body and feels robust.

This machine has a 7th Generation Intel Core, Intel HD or NVIDIA GeForce graphics and just like the Switf 1 it has up to 10 hours of battery life. The monitor can be either 14” or 15.6” Full HD and has IPS anti-glare. It has 512GB of SSDs or 1TB HDDs and 8GB or memory and the same 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac wireless technology that the Swift 1 has.

Again, eye-strain has been on the Acer designers’ minds since they have included a back-lit keyboard for late night use. There’s also an HD webcam and a USB 3.1 Type-C port.

There’s also a special edition top cover with Vibrant Corning Gorilla Glass which allows you to customise your device with photo-realistic images.

The Swift 3 has a RRP of €649 and is available in June.
