As somebody who is quite fond of clever gadgets and tools, I quite like the idea of everything that packs in more than feature in one. During a recent event, I ran into some people from Gifts with Style, and as I expressed my likes to them, they came up with a couple of very handy solutions for me.
No adventurous tool kit is complete without a compass. Compasses have many usages, and navigation is one simple one. Open up a map, and it becomes even more exciting. Look towards the stars, and suddenly a whole world opens up to you. You can continue reading this to find out about some reviewed devices.
You may carry a Swiss Knife with you, but I bet it doesn’t come with a hammer in it. There is a good reason for it. A hammer is not that easy to squeeze into your pocket. Having said that, apart from that, this is nothing less than a Swiss Knife, which packs in 7 tools:
- Flat-head Screw Driver
- Mini Saw
- Cross Head Screw Driver
- Wire Cutter
The various tools packed into the device make it quite an attractive gift for anybody from your dad to somebody who just needs a whole range of tools handy.
The device itself is well made, and all the tools are easy to open and use. The pliers come with a metallic grip that extends out, and is thinner than rest of the device. This makes it a bit more difficult to use than your average plier. However, as anybody who has owned any of these before, this is more of a one tool does all kind of a solution, rather than a one tool to replace them all.
Other tools on the device work rather well, including the hammer.
It retails for £14.95 and can be bought directly from Gifts with Style.
Credit Card Tool
For people who want something handy, but small enough to carry in their wallets or purses, there is the credit card tool. This handy little device actually includes 10 different uses:
- Knife Blade
- Screw Driver
- Bottle Opener
- Position Wrench
- Butterfly Wrench
- Saw Blade
- 2 Position Wrench
- Direction Ancillary Indication
- Can Opener
The device itself is pretty light, and only 2mm thick. At the same size as a credit card, it will easily squeeze into your wallet. It also comes in a handy reusable tin, which can be used to store anything from (SIMs and SD cards in my case) nuts and bolts to pins.
Sharp edges do mean that you should be careful about where you keep it in your wallet. The knife blade is not very sharp, but the saw could rip something if you pulled it out in anger.
It is available from Gifts with Style for £7.95.
