Smart phone cameras have come a long way, but as of now, there is no real way to change lenses on them. The iPhone series has attracted a lot of accessories that form clip on covers, but due to the increasing number of different formats on smart phones available, it is hard to create a kit for every new phone that comes out. Olixar have a solution, forming a 3-in-1 universal kit, that packs in a macro lens, a wide angle on top, and a fish eye lens. Since it clips on top of your camera, it should be able to work on any smart phone.
How well does it fit on top of smart phone cameras?
Interestingly, it works very well on almost everything I have tried, though at times, it has struggled when you have a case on, as the lens doesn’t fit perfectly and you can see a circle.
What about the other side, does the clip scratch my screen?
No, it has a rubberised pad on. However, I did notice that this pad did end up ‘pressing button’s on the other side, which may or may not be an issue depending totally on the phone you use this with.
How easy is it to use?
Very. The clip can just be ‘clipped on’ when needed, and the different lenses screwed in and out.
Do I need an app?
No, it works with any camera app, and even ones like Instagram.
I will include some of the samples given, as they cover a good range of example:
Macro was by far my favourite setting on this, you can really see the detail, and make sure of those millions of pixels you have on offer.
Fish eye is definitely interesting, but I didn’t like it as much as some of the other fish eye options out there. It works better in day light, but even then, it felt quite skewed.
The wide angle definitely delivered well too, but it didn’t really have a lot of ‘affects’ to offer, so it doesn’t shout out as loud.
More information on the Olixar Lens Kit can be found on the following Mobile Fun page:
It retails for only £12.99, and includes a handy bag to keep the lenses in.
For the price and the universal compatibility, this is a must have for any photography enthusiasts out there.Google+
