The Quick Circle Case Qi Case takes on from the good example set up by the LG G3 Quick Circle Case, and adds Qi Charging (Wireless charging) abilities. It offers the same old protection, the Quick Circle Window which allows you to take/make calls, take photos, etc.
The LG G4 Snap On Quick Circle case takes on from the new trend that can be seen in official cases, i.e. it replaces the back cover and snaps on instead of it. This allows this to be as small as possible, while still giving you the protection.
However, as it is still a tad bigger than the phone without a case, because it gives it an overall ‘hug’ and snug fit, going all around the phone. I know it sounds funny, but it definitely looks like you have put a case on top of the phone, rather than replaced the back cover with an extra tab on the top.
Once on, it fits well around the back, leaving the back buttons and the camera fully exposed. The ports are all fully exposed too, just like no case was on either.
The front gives you plenty of protection, as does the ‘hug fit’ all around by giving you full protection at the corners for those falls.
The back is made of a hard metallic shell that gives you a harder shell than the original case.
Great protection all around.
Obviously, what sets this apart from the usual breed of cases is the Quick Circle bit. What is it? It is a circular hole in the front of the case, which allows you to see who’s calling, any unread text messages and notifications without opening the phone up.
Every time you close the phone, you see the ‘Quick Circle’ screen, which features a watch, which you can adjust and change, and even download some more. The ‘watch faces’ are not that unlike the various watch faces you can get on smart watches these days.
Once closed, a double tap wakes the screen up, and a swipe gives you access to the apps.
The apps are:
- Phone (call logs, but you can call people back from it), or answer calls when it rings
- Read unread text messages (you can only read the unread ones)
- Download more apps (you need to open the case for this)
- Settings (open the case again to access these)
All apps work reasonably well, even the camera. The small screen gives you the ability to take photos, but doesn’t allow you to change any settings.
The download option gives you access to a few more apps, but it doesn’t really include any major apps. I suppose a bit of work is required still to make this more popular, and LG need to work on it. For example, apps like Twitter, Instagram, Spotify don’t work on the Quick Circle. Spotify would have been particularly useful for me.
The other advantage of the Quick Circle window is that when you want to take photos, you can open the case up and all the way back and it makes sure the camera doesn’t get obstructed, so you don’t get any issues taking photos.
One extra feature thrown in this case (and make sure you buy the Qi version) is that it also enables your phone to be charged wirelessly. For this you can use any Qi enabled charger. Of course, the Qi (or wireless) charging does take a bit longer than wired charging.
The LG G4 Quick Circle Qi Case can be found under the LG G4 category at MobileFun:
It comes in gold, blue, white, etc as well.
It retails for £29.99.
Please note that LG also make a non-QI version of this case, i.e. one which is just a Quick Circle case with the ability to wirelessly charge your phone. They retail for £24.99, so I’ll suggest you spend that extra fiver and get the real deal!
