Talking IoT in Enterprises

If you’re somebody interested in technology, IoT  is not a buzzword you would have missed recently. Though, what is IoT? Internet of Things, as it stands for, is the collective term that describes our increasing range of devices that are all connected to the internet. These include devices like our phones, wearables such as smart watches, as well as smart home devices such as thermostats and more.

We have recently discovered the following interview from Brent Blum, Wearable Technology Practice Lead at Accenture, where he talks all things wearables, IoT, and how all those things can come together to make a difference in the enterprise landscape.

While he highlights many interesting concepts, the mixing of IoT with personal safety such as hard hats that are connected sounds a very clever mechanism. This can expand to everything, not just in the workplace, but in our daily lives too, from our houses to our cars.

The other advantage, of course, is that the more connected your work place and instruments are, the safer you are. It also allows your company to monitor various behaviours, and if and ever things do go wrong, to take actions to prevent such things from happening in the future.

The best part is, as he says, this isn’t the distant future. This is coming, and soon!
