While Google have gone and released a video on how not to be a Glasshole, other projects are slowly beginning to prop up everywhere on the internet, offering you features similar to Google Glass, if not better, and cheaper. Now obviously, not everyone has the same skillsets as well as the financial backing of Google, so it is not entirely easy to go ahead and do the same.

A few projects have propped up on the likes of Kickstarter and IndieGogo, but Icis by LaForge is probably the best one we have seen so far. It takes the Google Glass concept, and gives it to you in a highly stylish package. You don’t have to look like a nerd to be one, and you don’t have to be a geek or a nerd to even want one.

Watch the video to see some of the potential of this great project!

From what we see on the video, it comes with an intuitive UI, and good looks. The control is packed into the temples, and they are using a projector system, so the image is projected in front of you, rather than into your eye.

“We wanted to design something that would keep people connected to their social networks, and not be intrusive,” said LAFORGE Optical CEO Corey Mack. “We want to blur the line between people’s virtual lives and their real lives. We want to create an environment where people can interact with their phone, without necessarily having to go through the hassle of pulling it out of their pocket.”

The uses and potentials are obviously well documented, but the added advantage of a device that is both stylish, and discrete makes the Icis a lot more attractive than any other solution out there.

So, what do you have to pay to get one of these?

  • $320 for the patient type, with a delivery promise of December 2014. You get a pair, charger, cover, 5 NFC tags and a lens cleaner kit.
  • $420 – when the above run out.
  • $620 – Icis Bold – for the more stylish

Other packages included as well.

This is definitely one of the best products we have seen in a while, and it only makes us more excited to see what the future has in hold!
