Nokia Lumia 2520 to be available in the UK from the 4th of December, exclusively from John Lewis

About 6 years back, we saw all the retailers in the UK fight hard for exclusive rights to the iPhone. O2 won that battle, and while everyone is selling iPhones now, it did mean that O2 were able to sell iPhones on their own terms, and the most popular smartphone in history probably helped them a lot as far as running a business goes.

Things have changed, and this time it is Nokia who have given the exclusive right to John Lewis (in the UK) to sell their Lumia 2520 tablet. Probably one of the most exciting tablets on the horizon, which gives the likes of Surface a challenge, this will be available from the 4th of December, and coming at only £399.99.

“In a market of me-too products, the Nokia Lumia 2520 stands out from the crowd with its unique Lumia design, great hardware and exclusive software experiences,” said Conor Pierce, Nokia’s General Manager for the UK & Ireland. “The Nokia Lumia 2520 is the first truly connected tablet and we look forward to working with John Lewis to bring this amazing connected experience to their customers.”

The Lumia 2520 is built on the iconic Lumia design, features a range of colours, and it is designed to work everywhere. The bright display lets you even use it outdoors, and a ZEISS optics featured camera appears on the tablet, making this the first tablet with a serious camera on it.

Power is another thing addressed here, with 11 hours of battery life.

Harry Boughton, junior buyer for tablets and telecoms says, “We’re very excited to announce the launch of the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet exclusive to John Lewis. We have seen a continuing demand for tablets, selling one every 15 seconds, and we think the addition of this tablet to our range will appeal to customers looking to do more than surf the web. It comes with the Microsoft Windows 8 operating system and Microsoft Office is pre-installed, making it ideal for customers who use Excel, Word, PowerPoint or Outlook. It is also 4G enabled so customers can use super-fast mobile broadband to always stay connected.”

Of course, it is all about  the software, and this tablet lets you do everything you would expect to do on your own computer, and more.

The only catch (not quite, but read on) is that the Nokia Power Keyboard Case, which does give you 5 extra hours of battery life, and 2 extra USB2.0 ports will cost an extra £149.95. Not too bad at 550, the whole lot though, compared to what else is in the market.
