n1-3

Oppo isn’t a well known name in the UK, but they have been silently making the ways since they jumped into the Mobile market in 2008.

Yesterday, they have presented their best so far in the form of N1.

A truly innovative phone that packs in quite a lot of new features.

Camera

First of all, the most striking thing that you may even notice in the picture above is the rotating camera. They promise that it has been testing for at least 100,000 operations (as in rotating backward and forward), which allows you 207 degrees of freedom, and it also means that you can use the same camera as the front or rear camera.

However, their fascination with the camera doesn’t stop there. They promise that their camera is the best one found on any camera yet (including the Nokia Lumia series?), and has quite a few enhanced features. It packs in Image Stability, a technology called Pure Image which should allow you to get the best image possible, a combination of 6 lenses to get the best performance, and an enhanced flash technology so you don’t drown out the colours. It also gives you control over shutter, and other manual controls.

Then there is the wide 2.0 aperture as well as the CMOS sensor underneath. A very exciting package indeed, though we’d like to try this out first!

O-Touch

N1 - o touch

This is where it starts to get interesting. While every phone claims to have the best camera yet, the O-Touch feature is where this phones brings some innovation to the market.

Using the back of the phone, you can scroll through emails, webpages, and probably other things by just scrolling your finger up and down.

This seems like a lot more reliable way of doing things instead of using eye-gestures as we have on the Galaxy S4. This might look akin to LG G2’s back buttons, but it seems to offer a lot more productivity. However, how useful it proves needs to be seen. Also, how many apps it works with is a different matter.

O Click ControlO – Click

Another thing this offers you is what they call the O Click. It is effectively a Bluetooth controlled button, and once again this is something that can be used very well, or not at all. The good thing is that they give you this accessory right out of the box, instead of you having to spend extra money for it.

This can be used to take pictures, find your phone if you can’t locate it, and do other cool things.

Once again, the usability depends totally on the user, but the fact that this is there will mean people will use it.

Color

As painful as it is to spell it like that, OPPO have also taken regular Android (4.2), and created their own OS out of it. They call it Color, and it promises 410 design improvements over regular Android, and 37 unique patents!

It also features CyanogenMod.

We’d definitely be looking forward to when this phone is released in the UK (if!), and would definitely like to try out the camera!
